I got a 2nd hand Tak EM10 for this purpose. Its reasonably light and you get Tak performance. It will do go-tos but the slewing is slow. I got a 24 volt power supply for it to speed it up but its not like my bigger mounts that slew quite quickly. A minor issue really.

I have yet to put it through its paces but it looks a lot like my NJP mount I had just a mini version of it. That was quite accurate.

Greg.

Any reason why you can’t leave your mount outside for short periods with a weatherproof tarp over it
I live in Sydney’s south and have been leaving my HEQ5 mount outside for 2 to 3 weeks at a time with a tarp over it for the past 2 years or so ( only bring the OTA inside )
Are you worried about security ?? Or taking up space in your yard ??
Just a thought ?

It's a space issue. Because of my yards layout and neighboring trees, the tripod sits right on the path to my front door. the aesthetics committee isn't too pleased.

I pick up my EQM35 with Tak FS78 , grabbing around the apex of the tripod with one hand, counterweights on and carry it out to the side yard.

Tracking - so far 25+ minutes with a really good polar alignment for visual and no noticeable drift off centre. It tracks as well as a GPD2 I had.

All going well I should get to image tonight. No smoke!
