RCW108/NGC6188 in Ha

A large molecular cloud in the constellation of Ara. Also known as Gum 53 and includes the cluster NGC 6193 in the foreground.

This image is the Ha channel taken using an Astronomik 6nm Ha filter.

Scope = TSA120 and camera is the QSI683.

25 images of 20 minutes each for over 8 hours exposure. Processing in Pixinsight.

I've also captured LRGB+SII and looking forward to the challenge of combining the Ha data with the colour channels.

Comments and critique welcome.

Excellent! Very sharp stars - the bright open cluster well resolved. Nebulosity beautifully captured and presented. Looking forward to OIII/SII.

Wow, excellent result Rodney

I like the resolution in your image, for example your system have very nicely resolved two bright stars in NGC 6193 that I merely split with mine.

Looking forward to seeing the completed image.

Not that it matters, your choice.

Nice detail and noise free.

Thanks MnT. Interestingly I hadn't captured any OIII but now you've mentioned it I will give it a try and see how much data is there. It is looking like it is going to be clear tonight so I may be able to capture some.

Thanks, I was also pleased with the way that the stars resolved in the cluster. The challenge is going to be to separate them out in the colour channels as the core of the main star is saturated. Might try some shorter exposures just to see if I can try some HDR work.

Well spotted Greg in that I specifically oriented the image this way as I think that the bright area in the centre looks like a sun rise/set over the rim of the nebula.

Great tonal quality and resolution Rodney! Very much looking forward to the final version!

Funny how some think it's upside down ... but it is.

Thanks Marcus and I agree (finally) that it needs to be flipped.

Thanks Rick. I'm approaching the colour processing cautiously on this one as I have found in the past that combining the colour channels with large fields of nebulosity can be a bit tricky. We may be revisiting your colour mask script.
