Recycling CFW9A

Plan on getting one of the new high res/small pixel slim line Sony chipped ATIK CCDs and thinking out loud with an eye to save money...

Could an SBIG CFW9A be made to work directly? Could I use a serial to usb conversion cable to make it work? Or is it purely in a symbiotic relationship with the SBIG ST2000XM? Remember, the CFW9A uses the I2C connection not the usual cfw serial port on the SBIG cam.

I don't want to plug it into a serial converter and watch it go snap crackle and pop.

No one?

SBIG hasn't answered either - may just have to email Capt. Ward.

Have you tried emailing Bill Lynch? He's very responsive. Especially after my STL had to go back for heart surgery, but, came back with a bandaid (I wasn't going to fork out $4,600 USD for a new sensor).
