Best Settings for DSS

Hey everyone!

This morning I began processing photos through DSS of the Triffid Nebula and ran into some unusual problems. I have attached an image of what I got after 3 hours of processing. I believe I used the Kappa- Sigma Clipping setting because it recommended it and I have no idea what it does. After I retried doing it without that, the photo turned out like he second one. It was much better.

So what settings would you guys recommend for DSS using a Nikon D-7100 DSLR and taking photos of Galaxies and Nebula?

It would be great to hear back from you!

*Both photos have been processed!
