M8 Lagoon Nebula with QHY163M

Hello, I'm new to this forum and thought I'd introduce myself with an image I took last summer of M8. Unlike you southerners M8 is rather low at 41deg north latitude.

I look forward to seeing your images and participating in this forum.

Hmmmm....I tried to post html code that displayed a thumbnail and linked to the image webpage, and it showed up fine in a preview, but the actual post does not show the thumbnail link.

Welcome to IIS Joel, very nice image & good star colours too.
There’s some lovely images on your website there.
Just wondering how you managed to elevate your obs 5’ above the ground & keep it stable? Concrete pier footing maybe?
I’m on a hill so this concept is new and of interest to me to access more sky.
Looking forward to seeing some more northern targets from you

Thanks Andy. I'm always quite jealous of your southern targets that I can't even see from here.

There is an 18" concrete pier under the obs and it is SOLID. The guy who put it in for me said that if I could balance it my whole house would sit on top of it.

Looks really good Joel!
Yeah us southerners get some pretty nice targets like both the Magellanic Clouds, several of the largest Globular clusters. We don’t get things like M31 (11° max alt) or M1 (30° max alt) in optimal positions so it goes both ways

I really like this Joel. It looks nearly identical to my image I did a few years back. Colour is great and detailing nice too.

Thanks Mike and Paul.
I remember being very surprised and pleased with this image considering my latitude.
