Cheers Pete, when I saw the article I had a big smile on my face. Back in Jan 2016, Prof Brian Schmidt said the following about our discovery when it was announced:

The new discovery is "remarkable" for what it could reveal about the fundamental problem in explaining the universe, which is the role of dark matter. Mr Sidonio went out and took this beautiful picture, and on it was a little galaxy, one of these little galaxies, that we didn't know was there, but might be related to the mysteries of dark matter."

....and he was right

That’s incredibly exciting. I can’t imagine the tingles you must have felt when you first saw your “smudge” and realized what it was. The fact that it’s also being used for dark matter research just puts it on another level again.

Mike given your experience do you think it possible to go deep on Mikes Galaxy?

Sure, possible Alex, but it'd be just a slightly more resolved smudge...
