Astro 40D Dark/Noise comparisons

Hi all...
Testing out the newly arrived Astro 40D tonight.
Comparing cooling off v's cooling on.

Air Temp 24º throughout test.
Interesting to see the CMOS temperature increase by 2-3ºC during DSLR operation (wonder how much the increase is over a full night's imaging?) and also that the temp drop of approx 27º exceeds the -18º+/-2 stated by Central DS who modified the camera.

100% crops from top left of image
No processing done on images other than conversion from RAW to TIFF to JPEG.

From L to R below...

Pic #1: CMOS Temp 24.5º, ICNR OFF, Cooling OFF, iso1600, 600sec exp

Pic #2: CMOS Temp 26.5º, ICNR ON, Cooling OFF, iso1600, 600sec exp

Pic #3: CMOS Temp -2.3º, ICNR OFF, Cooling ON, iso1600, 600sec exp

Pic #4: CMOS Temp -2.3º, ICNR ON, Cooling ON, iso1600, 600sec exp

Happy so far!
Looking forward to winter and more dramatic temperature gradients!!!!

Comments welcome
Doug

Not too shabby eh leon?
Images from those -40 degree CCDs must clean as a whistle!!
Looking forward to some real imaging soon.
My favourite weather prediction site says there's a gap in the clouds tonight! From a quick look outside that seems unlikely!
Patience Doug, Patience!!!
