Question, UV/IR cut plus UHC

Hi,

I image in Glebe under very light polluted skies and normally use an Astronomic UHC filter. Generally and out of habit I also attach a Baader UV/IR cut filter as well.

My question is since I am using the UHC filter am I an idiot also using the UV/IR cut at the same time as doesnt the UHC filter also filter out all UV and IR as it is a narrowband filter and so i get zero benefit from using the Baader UV/IR?

Thanks Paul

Hi Paul,
This site might help with spectral curves of these filters.

http://www.astrosurf.com/~buil/filters/curves.htm

Actually looks like the UHC lets through into the IR range while the Baader would block this IR. With a modded DSLR both would be the go I reckon but maybe not so much with a unmodded camera?]
I would give it a go without the baader and compare?

cheers Gary
