DSLR Canon adapter to M42 - severe slop

I have been trying to track down the movement i have in my image train at the moment. First i thought it was the polar alignment (may be still a little bit - need to check this out next clear night), but i am leaning more towards the camera adapter. there is a good 1/2 degree turn of slope in the adapter, and i am beginning to think that it is constantly moving with cable weight, the camera weight and even when the mirror is activated, jarring the system. How many others out there have this problem? Is there a brand of adapter that has no slop?

Dave my T ring does exactly the same thing. It is a bit of an issue with some brands apparently. If nothing else comes to mind, maybe a very very small piece of bluetac in the slot may provide enough resistance and be pliable enough to get into the slot

Same here Houghy, there has always been a bit of movement in my set-up as well, however I never found it to be a problem.

I have one of those as well JJJ, but it is the actual Canon adapter that is the problem, not the Hotech adapter. i am using a MPCC in the focuser, but it is held in position by three screws with a brass ring. its that little darn hole where the lense lock pops up from the camera.

David I have two of these adapters on both of my Canons 350D and 500D and they both have the slop. I used to jam a peice of paper in around the pin but I have found that the slop is no issue so I don't bother any more.

Cheers Daniel.
