Is it possible to run a firewire camera from USB???

Do these things work for astro cameras like the DMK firewire????
I though external 8V+ power was required on the 6 wire cable....

For power alone? Possibly. For communications...unlikely...the protocols between the two interfaces are almost completely different.

If you google powered firewire from USB......
The results indicate that it's not a viable solution for POWERED devices (like the DMK)
I'll buy an adaptor and see what happens......

A simple adapter cannot work, the interfaces are completely different operation.
A solution would require a microprocessor, with lost of buffer memory, to implement a DMK driver on the firewire side and fake a camera on the usb side. Without help from Imaging Source it would be virtually impossible.
