What software do folk recommend for quickly reviewing many FIT files for processing?

My bad - I did a whole lot of imaging test runs over the last three days with APT and SGP - producing a slew of .FIT files - and I didn't name the targets (or cameras used) or put them into separate directories! So now I have a mess of hard to view, unhelpfully named files to sort through and group.

Lesson learnt cheaply. For my sanity what is a good program to use to quickly skim through a few hundred shots and say that is M20, that is M8 that is NGC 5139 and sort them into different directories for processing!

Many thanks!

Have you tried browsing the folder with the Img tab in APT? Can’t remember if it generates thumbnails for FITS files ...

You could put them all into DSS, pick one sub as the reference and click register, it will reject all the subs where the stars don't line up and only register those that do. That will give you a list of subs for one target.

Then do the same for another reference sub and repeat.

If you've got PixInsight you can use the Blink process to flip through them, and to help sort them out as well.
