Backlash Compensation and Electronic Focuser

I have a Starizona Microtouch Focuser on my TEC140 that has worked quite well with Focus Max. I've never employed any backlash compensation or seen the need to do so. I'm now considering a focuser for the TEC180 and the TEC focuser. A solution is promised soon that will have 1.25 micron steps. I'm told that "routinely" a backlash compensation is used of 60 steps. I don't know if I should be concerned about this.

Thanks,
Peter
