Comet Lemmon - The Movie

Cast of thousands of stars! Animation of C/2012 F6 moving across the Southern Cross, 18-20 Jan 2013.

Each of the three subs is a nightly stack of 6-8 frames taken with Canon 400D on Vixen Polarie, 134mm, ISO 1600, F/5.6.

Comet Lemmon has been a real surprise.
What's the gas that gives such an intense green colour?
Don't think ever seen one this green before.

Hi Justin. Ionized molecular C2 gas gives comets like this the distinctive green colour. The more diatomic carbon, the more green.
