Norway

Finally had a chance to sort through some holiday images. This set are from our trip through Norway from Oslo to Trondheim. There are so many beautiful expanses of water so lot of reflections! Also managed to get a glimpse of the northern lights from the deck of the ferry one night.

These are all straight out of the camera apart from downsizing for posting.

Thanks for looking, comments and advice welcome!

Thanks Dave. It certainly was beautiful. I think we picked a good time of year to see the change of seasons and enjoy some nice weather.

We were surprised at how diverse the country was and especially at how much water there was at elevation. I'm told they have 95% hydro generated power. All the long distance trains are electric and we travelled on a battery powered ferry for part of the journey.

Those fjords were amazingly calm for such a vast expanse of water. Trying to take images of the aurora from the front deck of the ferry when it entered open water was another matter.

Hi Rob. Yes we did get a better view on our last night in Finland. I posted some pics in another part of the forum about a week ago.

I was surprised at how green it was. Perhaps I have the camera settings screwed up

A nice collection. What a marvelous place to visit.
While those houses look lovely in their isolating landscapes, they would be a bit unpleasant in the thick of Winter. And you get an idea of that from the steep sloping roofs of the houses and other buildings in the town shots.
Still, it'd be really photogenic then too.

Norway is a beautiful country - definitely recommended. We chose Oct/Nov to avoid being in the depth of winter however it was still very cold in some places. The daylight hours were also quite short at that time. I think we would have struggled in the depth of winter, both with the lack of daylight and the temperature. I guess the northern lights would make up for that on some nights!
