Saxon vs Skywatcher 6" Dob

Helping a friend to find a beginners scope for around $400. Young kids, easy set up and versatility. Both Skywatcher and Saxon make a 6" Dob which would fit the bill and appear nearly identical with the possible exception of the quality of the eyepieces. Are these the same scopes re-badged?

Hi winesky,

I havent found major differences between saxon and skywatcher dobs. The bintel dobsonians have a dual focuser which is nice.

I would if you are going to spend $400, try to get an 8inch dob instead. Alot of objects will become brighter and accessible with not a huge weight gain for the scope.

Regards,

Thanks M11,

Will check the Bintel 8". My 8" is an f4 so I understand the advantage. I will offer both options to my friend.

Hi winesky,

No problems buddy. Its my personal experience, take it with a grain of salt

I have an 8 inch dob if your friend wants to test it out before purchasing.

All the best
