Starlight Express 7 position FW with Win 8.1?

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone has successfully managed to load and use the SX 7 position filter wheel with Windows 8.1?

I need to load the original software off the CD but Windows says it cannot run the exe file.

I have loaded the ascom driver for Ascom 6 and can see the USB or serial port connections in the selection dropdowns in Maxim, but when I take test shots, the filter wheel doesnt select the corresponding filter. In fact the only thing it does do is initially spin right around all positions on power up with the powered Serial port plug (and no USB cable plugged in)

I have tried it with just USB only and just serial, but nothing seems to register it, when on USB, the driver shows the normal ? saying it cannot load drivers, which I suspect are the ones installed by the setup program, which I cannot run, even with compatibility mode and administrator rights.

Has anyone encountered this? And may have tips?
