Last Night (and this mornings) catch at Wyaralong

So before exams start for me on Monday, went out to the dam where weather was looking super grim. But, it cleared up nicely around 8-9pm. Concentrated mostly on the seagull nebula since its such a dim target and needed lots of data. Brought out star adventurer as well to give it a go. I didn't polar align it very well as I pointed it vaguely south and just tracked. For a bunch of 2 min exposures its not too shabby. Basically just playing around with it, not capturing anything serious.

Seagull Nebula is 18x 300sec at unity gain with asi1600mc-c
Orion Constellation was 18x 120sec at iso1600 with 5D mkii 50mm @ f2.4

Hi Tony

For the ASI what camera control software did you use?
What settings for colour space did you chose for the seagull?
ie: RGB24 or RAW16 etc.

It looks really good.

The Orion shot is a bit poor by comparison!

I use apt for now. I plan on migrating to sgp next session. I used Raw16 (i think, dont quote me on this). I use GRGB matrix on dss if thats what youre asking.

Orion was just something to keep my hands busy while the main scope was happily snapping away aha.

thanks Tony

I have been using 'force GRBG' and .fits

Sometimes it works, other times not.

Will try other settings and see what happens.

I still have 8/8ths of cloud on the coast so tomorrow will drive out west for some clear sky (i hope).

And hopefully I can capture the Gull away from the coast

forgot about this one. I was just testing how the ED127 would go with planetary just before packing up. Just 1000 frames at full res with 2.5x barlow with the ASI290MC. I'll keep this here as a reference and compare it with my c8 later on.
