Moonlite Focuser Hardware

I have the following Moonlite focusers and accessories that are left over from projects past and no longer needed so it is time to move them on. Prices listed below not including shipping costs. Pictures of all components are attached. Can package some of the items in job lots if required.

All items are in excellent condition. The 2.5" CSL focuser shows some marks on the draw tube from usage but does not affect function.

Note that different flanges to suit different OTAs are available from Moonlite in the US if the ones I have here do not suit. Flanges are secured by three hex keyed grub screws and a thumb screw and can be swapped out easily.

I have tested the stepper motor/controller to confirm that it is all working fine.

Full details of these items can be found on the Moonlite web site.

The flange extenders and motor control kit are now sold. The two focusers and adapters are still available.

Moonlite CFL 2.5"

Hi

I am interested in upgrading my focuser.
I have a Meade 127mm F7.5

What is the inner diameter of the tube where grub screws are tightened to fit the OTA.

I need to work out whether I need a second adaptor.

Regards
Dave

Not being 100% clear of where you are looking to measure Dave, let me give a longish answer. The Moonlite focusers are designed to have removable flanges that can be swapped out depending on which OTA you want to connect the focuser to. The flange fitted to the focuser that I have for sale is the one for the Tak TSA120. I have attached some images to show the adapter flange removed and measurements taken with my digital calipers. I am showing the internal diameter of the Tak TSA120 flange and the internal diameter of the OTA end of the focuser. The connection between the adapter flange and the focuser is a dovetail fitting.

If you go to the Moonlite site here and click on the CSL 2.5" Large Format SCT/RC Focuser link on the left hand menu there is a lot of information regarding the focuser and the adapter flanges available.

I can't advise you as to whether the Tak adapter would fit the Meade 127mm OTA but Ron from Moonlite would answer that question for you. He is always very responsive.

Looking at the images of the Meade 127mm APO it presume that it would be matter of unscrewing the entire focuser (shown black in the attached image) and then screwing on the correct adapter flange for the Meade 127mm APO and then attaching the focuser unit to the dovetail fitting.

I hope that this helps. If you want to chat about this send me a PM and I will give you my mobile phone number.

CS,
Rodney

Flange for Meade 127

Hi Rodney

Thank you for your quick response.
My equivalent flange size measures 130mm on the OTA and 66mm on the Meade focuser.

I see that Moonlite do supply 4,5,6,7 inch flanges for older Meade telescopes.
I will contact them and let you know.

Regards
Dave
