Shielded laptop case for imagers?

May be of use to imagers with laptops in the field:
a laptop case with a built in light shield.

Marketed in the US as a Seaport I-Visor 15 and I-Visor Pro.
The Pro model looks more useful.
Haven't found a local source as yet.

I have one of them, they are very good, stop a lot of stray light from getting out and also prevent dew from settling onto your laptop.

I got mine at star Optics, but they haven't added them to their web site yet.

I’ve been looking at similar products over the last couple of days and here is one I found from ThinkTank in the USA:

I also saw a white light tent here:

And the product list of light tents from Photo Continental in Brisbane is here:

http://www.photocontinental.com.au/i...P042&sort=P233

I had a look at the 40cm model at Au $59:00 and it would seem to fit a lap top nicely, although obviously, the white material does not block light.

Note: this link can be slow at times!

G'Day,
Why don't you buy one of those plastic containers from Bunnings and paint the inside flat black, they come in all sizes and a lot cheaper to boot.

Nice, I didn't realise they existed, but had often thought it'd be a good idea. I might get around to buying one for my new laptop. Thanks for the heads up.

One of my own requirements for such a product, is that it should be easily transportable – that is, not bulky, hence my interest in the collapsible models. Our car is only so big…

I've enquired about the 12" model marked down to USD14.95! But maybe I'm the only one with a 12" laptop these days!

I've got a 7" notebook which I think would be useful... Id have a ton of spare room in a 12"

I actually use one of the black square containers I got for $4 at crazy clarks... Its big enough for my lappy and a few ep's etc... keeps all the cables neat and tidy..

Whilst I was initially worried about its bulkyness, I found that for the drive to dark skies it doubles as a good box for cables, and random accessories like star charts/books etc.. makes it easy to find everything when i get to the location too.. .

I simply turn the display light down and when I set something imaging I partically close the lid (not all the way of course). I also have simply put a cloth or similar over it if I wanted to reduce the light glow.

Now I use a dedicated computer and I simply switch the display off when I leave the observatory.

You can also set screen shutter to on if you are using CCDsoft and that makes the screen go black whilst the shutter is open.

I also set the screen to night vision mode using The Sky or the Chuck Faranda Temma driver for Takahashi mounts.

Greg.

OK, the US supplier has told me it's discontinued item so selling out. Shipping would be USD29. Nominal internal dimensions are 12.5" x 9.5" x 1.25". Just too small for my lappie.
