Well David the Pleiades themselves look pretty reasonable, but what is all that other stuff, seems like a lot of noise in that shot.
Nice effort though

You have got some nice detail in the centre, but it looks like you are catching some reflections from the tube baffles. Maybe the cam sensor is too big for that scope, but seeing that you have stars to the edge, more likely reflections caused by some stray light.

anomolies of the Pleiades pic

Well I had dew on the corrector plate on that RASA, and an astro friend of

mine, Terry Hancock, said the green and rainbow was due to that...

Also since this is a fast f2.22 optic, Terry also said I will have a difficult time

removing a flat field, compensating for unflat fielding.

And 2: I just now after about 1.8 years of my owning this scope have gone

ahead and applied black flocked paper (self adhesive-type) to the inside of my

ota, tube. Hope this helps too.

What do you all think?

Thanks

Thanks: yep the Nikon D800 I used for that shot, and it seems like it was @ ISO 800, and I need to keep the ISO's at even numbers (like 100X(2^n)) where n is an integer starting at 0 Stacked many sub frames too, like about 20 to 30 at 2 min exp each... 36303]Well David the Pleiades themselves look pretty reasonable, but what is all that other stuff, seems like a lot of noise in that shot.

That is a very nice capture David.

I seem to recall getting a similar effect to those rings once when stacking in Deep Sky Stacker.

I dont know why it came about but I think that I did a second stack without the bias frames and the problem then was not there...I know that seems odd and I have no idea how including the bias or not changed things or if it had nothing to do with the problem...but I mention it anyway.
