Using filters with colour camera

Hi Brains Trust

I recently purchased the ZWOASI1600MC-C
I had decided I was not going to complicate my learning by using filters ie: one step at a time.

However, in the future, can I use Ha, SII or OIII filters with a colour camera?

Yes you can use an OSC to do narrow band. You just capture the Ha & Sii in the red channel and Oiii in the combined green and blue channel. Be aware that you will lose sensitivity as well as resolution as you record 1 pixel in 4 for the same surface area because of the bayer matrix.

You image exactly as you would image color. When you debayer to R, G and B you keep only the red channel for a Ha/Sii filter and the green/blue combined for an Oiii filter. Then you stack your subs as you would for a mono.
