My new TEC 140 arrived.

Hello,

I am so excited as my new TEC 140 has arrived safe and sound to Ayers Rock. The carton actually looked in perfect condition which was a relief.

It is a beautiful looking scope and I hope Yuri gets as much pleasure delivering his scopes as I got receiving mine. Thank you Yuri and the TEC team.

Some photos taken from my phone.

Mark

Very nice, I bet you are chuffed. Love the packing, which is a must with such a lovely instrument, something Takahashi should start doing in my opinion. Nice touch coming with a proper case as well.

Beautiful!

Yuri improved the blue correction in this latest run so you have the best corrected 140 TEC has made so far.

David I am working as the astronomy supervisor at Ayers Rock Resort so unfortunately I will be missing Astrofest this year but will be having my own astrofest out here as all I am doing is astronomy. After running the tours I go home and image away under stunning skies almost nightly. Great place for a change from teaching and no marking.

I did set up for the first time last night for visual and firstly I sm no expert but the thing that impressed me most about my first viewing session was the fact that normally when I focus I get to the point where I think I am focussed and then keep going until I go just out of focus and then go back to focus. After I thought I was at really good focus I went to keep going but instead of becoming worse the focus just got better and better to what I thought was pretty good. The stars really are pinpoint.
I looked at the moon and that was truly stunning. The contrast was beautiful and I used my William Optics 7mm 82 d field of view with a cheap 2x barlow to give me 280x magnification and the features on the limb were razor sharp. There seemed to be no degradation of the visual at this magnification and what i could see in craters and around was amazing. I could see almost like layering of the crater wall and the rebound central pile in the middle of craters showed like vertical valleys or cracks in the central rebound. It was incredible. What I did not like was all those floating things that showed up in my eyes whilst looking at a very bright moon. I might need to see an optometrist.

Very happy.

Mark
