New SW HEQ5pro mounts - computer USB cables?

Can anyone confirm that the latest HEQ5pro mounts come with a "USB" computer upgrade cable and not the old original "serial" connection cable????

mine didn't come with anything to connect to the computer. you need to buy an adapter like this.

It is the EQ6 that comes with the serial port Ken. As Jay says, for direct computer connection it is best to buy the adapter cable from Bintel. This will connect into the port used by the handset.

Jay,
According to the SW HEQ5pro website/ manual, you should have received "in the box" the "PC connection cord" computer cable.

Yeah,
I'd seen the new USB port on the NEQ6-R models, but just wondered if this was also used on the latest HEQ5pro mounts. Obviously not....

Skywatcher wifi module

I use the SW Synscan wifi module. It plugs in to the handset port on the HEQ5 Pro mount and is powered from the mount. It can connect using an app on your laptop, iPad or smartphone and provides all of the handset functionality. You can either use your home wifi network, or if you are remote you can use the wifi hotspot provided by the module by setting your laptop, iPad or phone to detect the Synscan module wifi signal. One less cable!!

I should also add that it is recognised by EQMOD - there is a Synscan wifi driver, which means you can control via APT, planetarium software etc.
