Interested in spectroscopy

G'day, I'm new to this forum, been reading a little bit about Spectroscopy and can see there is a lot to absorb before making any decisions about purchasing , however there doesn't seem to be any local suppliers of this equipment, can any one advise on this,. Clear skies.

Neil,
if you're just starting out in spectroscopy, I'd recommend starting your journey with a transmission grating...
The Star Analyser gratings (100 and 200 l/mm) are available from Bintel and can be used with almost any telescope/ camera lens/ CCD

Later, you may wish to consider moving up to the serious stuff - slit spectroscopy. Unfortunately there is only a local supplier for the Baader DADOS instrument. The popular Spectra-L200 and Shelyak instruments must be purchased in Europe and shipped to Oz.

Thanks Ken & to Neil for asking as one day I'd like to get into this myself starting at a beginners level of course. I had no idea that Bintel sold them or what I would need to get, so this very helpful.

Spectroscopy is a challenging (and very satisfying) aspect of amateur astronomy.
To record "live" spectral detail of emission stars, novae and even determine/ confirm the types of SN is very rewarding.
I recommend it to ALL amateurs.....
