I MUST be getting old

Absolutely STUNNING seeing here tonight in Canberra - I mean, I cannot even see a single stellar scintillation in over many minutes looking up - SOLID AS A ROCK. And Luna looks spectacular.

BUT...it's 2°...and it'll drop to -2° tonight...I've just lost all courage and conviction . I've been itching to get the new-to-me Tak EM200 mount under the stars, but not inclined to carry it all out (it's a LOT heavier and bulkier, and more intensive to polar align than my old Vixen SXP)

Ah well...c'est la vie mes amis! Bring on spring...but with it's incumbent loss in seeing stability. Sigh.

Ahhh come on man, I've been out at my site all night in -5C with everything covered in ice! Do not miss out on potentially great seeing because of some warm night....

Melbourne has a POS cold and cloudy maritime climate most of the time, no amount of new equipment purchases can degrade that defective climate any further! The stratocrapulus factory is sadly in business 24/7.

I’m on the south coast NSW and currently imaging Jupiter and Saturn with BYEOS on my 8” f5 newt , Canon 600D and 5 x Televue Powermate
I’m using an umbrella on a stand with reflective material to keep the OTA out of the moon glare , the live view video so far looks promising so seeing must be average to good
Cloud moving in soon so I’m grabbing a few more then pack up and have dinner

2 weeks left of winter is too late

I look like the Michelin Man in normal clothes, let alone a ruddy freezer suit.

Why do you think his wife calls him “the minute man”...?

I know how you feel Lewis. I'm not as immune to the cold as I used to be.

To Hot

I've had to stop & come inside because of the heat at night !

Yep that happened when I was living in a ghost town call Silverton back around 17 years ago in January ,,,

Well, it got to -4° after all. My car was absolutely covered in ice this morning, and was still icy by the time I got to the middle of Canberra at 0730. The duck pond at the golf course has only just de-iced (it's 4° right now at 11am).

Wife said I bet we get more on Monday. She may be right.
