I am sick of rooms packed with paper money so I want to turn it into gold and save space.
So how do you bar gold bars?

My hobby pre-astro was prospecting Alex.......I still have a bit in the cupboard if you're interested? Fine specimens from Vic's golden triangle mainly.

Never made any real money from doing it but at least I made a few $'s from it.......never enough to cover costs though!

Well I am interested but you are too far away for me to pick it up.
Also I would prefer something with a stamp so its somewhat negotiable...just in case.
I think it is a good way of protecting savings as you cant dip in without a bit of effort and if you had to leave in a hurry at least you would have something.
I doubt if I am the only person to think that.
I think nuggets carry a premium such that you pay much more than the value in weight.
That does not apply to gold dust however...which is odd..I say that as I get the impression nuggets are a way of launding cash ..what better than dust however...I have been panning all my life and thats how I got all that dust you could say but such a story re nuggets seems not as believable.

Not that laundering money is my game...pay your tax and be happy to contribute I say and in any event dont get your cash from criminal activity.

I have a klm frontage to the Rocky river and we used to pan there for a little colour but as you say the reward does not meet the effort.

I fellow I know did 12 months full on like it was normal work with an illegal dredge and only made poor wages.

I just want to get a little bar for the heck of it.

When you buy it, they send the physical gold to you, along with the relevant invoicing that verifies it's authenticity as a Perth Mint product.

Also, keep in mind, that there will be a shipping fee involved too. They advise of the amount on the site. I can't remember which courier they use, but the service is quite a secure one.

As for selling it... once you have the gold in your hands, you can dispose of it in any way you like. For me, it has always been a face to face meet-up, and cash is exchanged for precious metal.

Go to virtually any coin dealer and buy a 99.999% fine gold coin. They are often bought and sold at gold spot price (plus a small mark up for the retailer). I sold a Kreugerrand (one ounce) at spot gold price per ounce, and they had a variety of others for sale at the same price +$50-$200 depending on year.


Affordable, effortless way to convert $1670 (as of 29/11/2018) to "pure" (-enough-to-be-saleable) gold.

Alternatively, what is your opinion of buying Perth mint gold ETF shares (code PMGOLD)? Would these be almost as secure as holding physical gold?

Why don't you do it the old way and get a dentist to install some in your mouth.
My father and uncle's all had gold teeth.
Also I keep a little gold in my computer and mobile phone for backup.
Not too sure what the exchange rate is for dentists but at least you have it it on you all the time.
Seriously my brother does Bitcoin and converts his earnings to silver not gold for stability.
Don't ask me how it works because I still don't get this virtual currency thing.

My preference was for silver over gold, as the swing could net you more profit at selling time.

Personally, if I'm handing my money over, I would rather have the real thing in my hands, rather than a promissory note. That's just me, though.
