Helix

Did a really daft thing and went to the observatory in the high wind and moon and light pollution to see how much I could catch of a faint object with the ZWO 1600. Fairly impressed with 21x2min subs under the prevailing conditions.

Not bad at all. I'm going to do this one this week-end from home in Ha with the hyperstar see if I can get some of the outer stuff. We have a couple of clear nights coming up, it's new moon and the seeing is not too shabby either early next week.

I will try and get some Ha of this Helix and go long and deep if I can.I think Im going to use the QSI though just to go long in exposure times. I have a feeling that would be better as an image.
Also OIII does really well on the helix as Peter Bester showed a while ago.

The helix was one of the first targets I ever attempted and this was about all I got without having to worry about wind and excessive light pollution
I'll have to have another go at it at some point.

This weekend is SMC however
