The Crossack Todays oldie image

Self explanatory again. Again too large, so need to scroll or reduce screen.

Confused the ****e out of me again :-)

Crossack?
Have you given us a new term?

Anyway, a truly beautiful image of our great southern sky.

I really like this one Raymo.
I wish you would mention that all you use is Deep Sky Stacker as that may help folk who are starting off. Gives an indication of just what can be done.

Thanks Peter, Alex, and Leon, it is an attractive part of the sky.

I'll mention it with the next one Alex.

Peter, I am sorry for confusing you. I'm always playing with words, and
many of the newbies here have some knowledge of the sky, so get my
meaning straight away. It is a combination of Southern [Cross] and the
Coal[sack], which is the large dark nebula mostly within the left side of the cross. I'll not do it again.

I was actually thinking of stating that it was a new constellation discovered
by St. Petersburg observatory, but decided that maybe some complete
newbies would wonder what the heck this was all about.

Whole lotta sky there. Wide wide field. Takes a while to get orientated with all those stars not normally visible to the eye at once. Not visible on the steppes I would think. ? Maybe at Vostok station.

Very clever name and great image all the same.

I think this my favourite so far. You really captured the character of the entire region in this shot. It's got all the colours of the rainbow. A perfect balance of the celestial transition, giving perspective to the separation between our border's fringe and outer space.

Hi LostInSp_ce, Thanks for your compliments on my oldie images. I couldn't
help noticing that neither you nor anyone else thought my M20 [6 images
before this one] worthy of comment, good or bad. Regarding film, as I have
told people on here a couple of times, we got burgled and lost some 6,000
prints and slides and approx 8,000 negs, inc my wife's only pic of her long
gone Mum.
