M8 and M20 mosaic

This was taken on 21st from Mt Waverley...
Assembled from 2 16x30sec stacks, taken with old EOS-modded Canon 400mm FD f/2.8 @f/4 and FSM modded Canon 450D, from light polluted Melbourne. I also used L-pro lp and UVIR-stop filters. Tried longer exposures, but there was no improvement due to LP...

A very nicely framed mosaic. They make for a grand pair.

Perfect framing.

Makes me remember my very first attempt at astrophotography using a DSLR at the back of a 9.25" Celestron SCT. I was trying to photograph the Trifid. It was very high in the sky, essentially vertically above me. I could just make out a tiny faint fuzzy thing in the finderscope. Took an hour's worth of 5 minute subs. Put it together. It was a very fine photo of the Lagoon.

You've got both! Much better.

Mike

This is another shot of M8 from the same night, 16 x 60s.

I will try my next mosaic with this one.
