Neximage Solar System Imager as CCD Autoguider

So.

I bought a Orion 50mm guidescope for autoguiding my setup. It is working great, however I am really limited by only being able to get mag6 and higher stars to appear. The chip just doesnt seem to be sensitive enough. even when I try all of the different settings possible!

However I have seen people around the place using it as a guider and saying that it works well?

Keep in mind this isnt the Neximage 5, it is essentially a philips spc900nc webcam in a celestron body!

Thoughts?

Should I just suck it up and buy a dedicated guiding webcam (I am limited to under 100$ on my student budget )
