More Camera Woes

My G2-8300 Moravian camera is acting very strange. I'm getting terrible blooming suddenly! Is this the CCD, the board? I tried different camera software. Is yet another camera going back to the factory? (This time I didn't smash it with my head!!!)

Crikey that's bad luck. Have you contacted Moravian yet?

FWIW, it looks to me like the ABG mechanism might have stopped working. As far as I can tell, that is set by a DC bias level to one of the 8300 pins, so maybe there is a power regulation problem on the board.

Mail this morning from Moravian says it's the shutter stuck "open." This means the chip is still reading light whilst downloading the image.

I will be opening the camera today.

Hi Peter,

Definitely your shutter.

I have just come back from a dark site trip to Coonabarabran and all the shots from my QHY9 are exactly like yours.
I found I had put the faceplate incorrectly back on to the QHY9 and it was putting pressure on the shutter spindle stopping it from closing.

Ross.

Ah, finally some good luck!

A wire that is supposed to be glued down onto the clam shell holding the filter wheel came half unglued and was impeding the shutter. A bit of contact cement and all seems well again!
