SBIG 8300m coolers turn of by themselves

Hi,

As mentioned above when trying to cool my camera I get a message in MaximDl cooling window for both camera 1 & 2 (guide) that the cooler is off. I have rebooted everything and even downloaded latest drivers which I already had and it still does it. Statred last night and now it looks like my rare night of imaging is done.

Anyone have any ideas????

Mark

Mark, I had some issues around the cooler when I first got my camera but haven't had any for a while. I have a sequence I do things. I turn my camera on first before I start SGP. Then connect and have the cooler auto start. Not sure how it works in MaximDL sorry.

Agree this sort of thing is bloody frustrating when you have a consistent process that usually works and you follow it and then get different results.

You could try downloading a trial version of SGP and see if it works in that. If it did that would mean the camera is fine and it is a Maxim or camera driver compability issue.

On my STXL anyway, the manual says the cooler will automatically turn off at 10.25v and otherwise operate correctly. Check the power into the cam is 12v and if not their might be a bad connection or faulty power supply.

Bless you Fred.

Indeed it's often a power problem (i.e. lack thereof) that causes this.

Also I'd suggest that you check the centre 12VDC connector pin on the camera has not been crushed inward, plus secure the power pack connector collar with a small pair of pliers to ensure a make/break circuit does not occur due camera movement.

Hello. Just attached camera to a 12V battery and worked perfectly. Will need to fix my main 240V which has broken plastic and wites visible. It is a tricky power supply to attach. The only negative but just all others are positive. Beautiful camera.
