VISTA gigapixel mosaic of the central parts of the Milky Way

Not sure if this has been posted before. There's a 24GB *.psb file download. Trying to look at the 3.9GB TIFF file for now.

Thanks for sharing Marc. I had a good view and zoom through the image. It's incredible on how it just continues to reveal more and more detail. Here is a related page that describes the project and processing...

I was also very interested to see that it was an all Infrared image made up of 3 layers something around (1.25, 1.65 and 2.15 µm) with as you'd image thousands of images covering the stated 30 x 20 degree field taken with this guy...
