Ngc 1269 / 1291

This unusual guy has two designations in the NGC, 1269 and 1291, so take your pick. I was hoping to get a bit more data on it (got 17, was aiming for 20), but the smoke came back and between that and the moon phase it was time to call it a day.

I think you got enough, came together very well Lee, it's a lovely subtle galaxy this one and you have processed it very nicely Love that ring, reminds me of Hoags Object.

I have 70min Lum on this from over a year ago actually, was planning to finish it this year but haven't yet

Mike

Lee you're consistently producing wonderful results in a short time with affordable sensible equipment. This is another splendid result. Your processing produces a very natural-looking result, but with squillions of background galaxies showing good form.

Very nice one, you must have some good seeing conditions to work at such small scale and yet recovering so many details
Ciao

Cheers Mike :-) Subtle is a good word for this galaxy. I struggled a bit with the colour on this one but I think the longer I leave it the happier I am with it.

Definitely worth getting some more data on it, I'd love to see your rendition.

Thanks Mike :-) Yeah, I've had a pretty good run this year, really. Had some of the worst conditions I've seen, but gotten the best results, so that's something to be proud of.

I tend to go pretty hardcore on the processing these days but I'm not sure there's too much you can do with this one, I think it really lends itself to a more subtle, natural look.

One day I hope to have some less affordable, sensible equipment, but this'll do for now

This image is pretty freaking cool. Sincerely. Your image demonstrates that one doesn't have to spend the price of a new BMW car to take great astro-photos.
