Question RA motor drive upgrade for old Polaris EQ mount

I'd like to replace the motor drive on my old Polaris EQ mount (Japanese, 1994 model, see photo attached). The gears are rather worn in the old one and sometimes she misbehaves and tracking is so-so. But I have no idea what would be suitable. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Bojan. The turn-counting per 360-deg tip is great and your idea of DIY-ing it looks very attractive (very cheap!).
