Help with Sigma lenses.

I have 2 lenses with my Samsung GX 1L DSLR.
They are - SIGMA ZOOM 28-80mm 1:3.5-5.6 MACRO ASPHERICAL
- SIGMA ZOOM 100-300mm 1:4.5-6.7 DL

I have been trying to find some information about them but can't seem to find anything, I have even tried the Sigma website.

What I want to know is, at the base of the lenses where they attach to the camera is a series of numbers and a small button where it says lock. If the lenses is selected on the A- function it will take photos but if it is on any of the numbers it doesn't take any. Could some one please tell me what they are and where I could find some information about the lenses.

Cheers - Craig.

Craig,

Sounds like manual aperture stops. You don't need to worry about them -- they're for analog SLRs. Just leave it in A-mode and use your cameras controls to determine aperture.

Thanks for that. I am a complete newby when it comes to cameras (DSLR and everything else). I didn't think it would be possible to use analog SLR lenses on a DSLR camera.

As Humayun says, just do the auto thing and all will be well.
