NGC 2070 (Tarantula)

I haven't imaged since June but had some clear skies a couple of weeks ago so thought I'd take the opportunity while the moon was having a rest!

Little bit rusty switching the gear on and getting guiding up and running after a few months (in fact I think I had a grease hardening issue in the mount as I had a big cyclical guide error for the first 10 or so rotations of the worm).

This one needs some more data I think to drop the noise (which I'll attempt to get next new moon period) but I'm pretty happy with the detail drawn out here.......if you look really carefully through the noise you can see dust which I didn't know existed in the tarantula area of the neb. I'd really like to tease that out a little more with extra data.

Approx 3 hours of stacked data (best 80%) on each each NB filter with no pre-selection of frames. Standard calibration frames used.
Processed in Startools (love ya' work Ivo!) although as always I've pushed a little too hard which is one of the reasons for the noise issue!

Capture details -
Telescope - WLT 132 (The most undervalued scope out there I think!)
Cam - ASI1600 Pro
Filters - Astrodon
On axis guiding.....I know, ON axis, imagine that!)
Mount - NEQ6 (self tuned and belt driven). On the last of the 3 nights I captured this i got the best guiding I've ever had - 0.19 at one point!)

I thought Covid would have given me some extra time to image but I had no time at all!

I'm hoping to grab an extra 10 hours on this to clean it up next new moon so will post the updated pic once done for comparison.

It probably isn't worth looking at the high res version of this one because it's not up to scratch yet....check this one out though.

This was the last shot I took back in June which shows what the asi1600 can do with this with the FLT132 (with .8x flattener). Almost a perfect match I think.

Thank you Imme. I prefer image at the native focal length. I do have a Pflat IV Adj I could use if I had too.
