Not the best Jupiter, but *my best so far

We had good seeing in Melbourne tonight (jetstream dead still!), but I still have some tube current issues to deal with, even with the fan. A baffle is the next thing, I guess, or a side fan to break up the envelope of slightly warmer air coming off the mirror. It had been cooling all day as it's stored outside, but still chasing that temperature differential once the sun goes down, I guess.

I used EP projection (3.5mm Pentax XW)
16" GSO Dob (no tracking, just letting the planet drift through frame)
Canon 5dMk4 in 4K mode, 1/200, ISO3200
PIPP, Registax and Photoshop

I was pretty happy with what I got considering it was EP projection on a scope that is not tracking. I may be able to improve it with different approaches to the data.

Thanks! Alas,no, I'm not that good. It was taken using the video function. Equivalent to a 4096 x 2160 sensor at 5.36 microns.

I can't remember how many frames were incorporated in this image. Ill have a look when I get home. It wont have been many because it only stayed in the centre of the field of view for a few seconds

Markus, you've done a great job with what you have captured this with. Only a few seconds in the field of view doesn't give you long to choose the frames with the best seeing so the result you have achieved is admirable. Not an easy task at that enlargement even finding Jupiter to keep it there!

I was out there last night to shoot M83 with my 8 inch Newtonian on a EQ5 mount with RA motor but I couldn't locate it. I gave up and decided to have another go of Jupiter. Around 10.30pm the seeing was average but by 1.00am it had improved dramatically. I'll be processing my footage later. It should be an improvement on my last Jupiter post.

Really nice shot of Jupiter. That's never going to happen for me with my little refractor, although as Mars gets closer I was going to try a 2x barlow to see what happens...
