Eta Carina

Hi everyone,

I took advantage of a long weekend and did an
all-nighter Sunday, 18.04.21.

The night didn't start off too well, but conditions improved
in the early morning.

I had two targets for the night, Eta Carina and Lagoon Nebula.

Feeling ambitious, I took gamble and tried imaging with two
different filters.

Details as follows:

Orion Eon 110mm f6 refractor
Field flattener

Modded Canon 1100D
111 x 90 second exposures
ISO 1600

IDAS LPS2 and Optolong Lenhance filters

Skywatcher HEQ5 Pro Mount
Unguided

Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker
Processed in Windows Live Photo Gallery.

Thanks for looking.

Paul.

Good amount of colour there Paul, looks like you are a bit out of focus with the whole shot. I found easiest to stick with one plan of attack or a whole night can be wasted chasing your tail. Carina goes well with the L-enhance as it'll draw the colours out.

Clear skies

Good effort Paul.

I can spend a whole hour mucking around with focus.

It can get tedious at times, especially if the atmosphere ain't clear.

Well done

Thanks Karl,

the Lenhance and Idas LPS2 filters work nicely with the modded Canon.

The night wasn`t the best, but I didn't want to waste the opportunity.

Conditions and seeing improved around 3.00 am.

I use a Batinov mask for focusing, and always when changing filters.

This was also the first time I used the ZWO EAF auto focuser.

I was attempting to guide, but I could not quite get it together,
(thanks again Martin for your support).

Peter, yes, the conditions can be tricky down this way for focus,
as you would know.

My location in a valley with an elevation of 9 meters above sea level,
and 500 meters from the ocean can bring all kinds of mist and fogs.

I cant complain, when its good it`s amazing.

I`m still happy !!

Thanks again.

Paul.
