What a wonderful sight Comet Lovejoy was.....

Hi everyone, just wanted to share a few shots I got on Christmas morning from Terrigal of Comet Lovejoy.
It was a magnificent sight to see it rising like a searchlight over the horizon.

The day before Mike (Iceman), Rod (Rodstar) and I tried to get some shots but the clouds kept interfering and all I got was part of the tail.

On Christmas morning I headed out again and the conditions were better but there was still low clouds to contend with along with headlights from passing and parked cars around the Skillion.

Here's a few shots of the very memorable Christmas Comet.

Hope everyone has a Very Happy New Year.

Andrew

Mate,

First one's a corker -- looks just like a painting.

Beautiful!

Awesome stuff RB, unfortunately I was not that lucky with the weather, and now it is fading fast, well done indeed, they are probably some of the best i have seen.

Beautiful images RB, I like the contrast you've achieved. Comet Lovejoy is almost a memory now, just like McNaught.

We're very lucky to have witnessed 2 great comets in such a short period of time.

The tail that you caught is a scortcher with great structure.

Thanks everyone, glad you liked them.

1 & 2 are my favourites too.
And thanks to Mike (Iceman) who told me about Comet Lovejoy, I didn't even know it was around because I hadn't been on IIS for so long and I would have missed it.

Cheers.

Beautiful Rob!
You have done a very nice job with them!
Hard to say but the first and last are my favorites!
I wish I was home for Chrissy and got a comet over the tree!

Great stuff RB. I guess Mike and I were the sacrificial lambs on this occasion!

In the first image, the comet looks like a stroke of white paint across a canvas. So bold and strong.
