Covid-19 measures

Hello,

In the wake of this current Covid-19 crisis, the Committee of the Blue Mountains Astronomical Club has taken the decision to suspend all group activities for the time being.

We have not taken up a time scale for when to resume group activities as currently there is no way of determining when this health crisis will end.

We see this as one small way that we can stop the spread of this virus, and protect the more vulnerable people in our whole wider community.

BMAstro is still active. This measure affects only our group activities.

Good health to everyone, love your families and be kind to one another.

Alex Massey,

President of the Blue Mountains Astronomical Club, Inc.

PS, I've been in contact with Joe (mordrax)

Hi Alex

Just out of curiosity, with vaccination rates now improving is there any plan to open this up again in future?

I'd be happy to mask-up and social distance etc.

Adam,

Our activities have re-commenced and are following all current State Government guidelines requiring all attendees to sign in with our QR code present their double vaccinated certificate. The use of facemasks is also as per guidelines, however if you feel safer using one in situations for which it is not required then you are most welcome to use one.

As per our attendee policy, our activities at Katoomba Airfield are only open to members, their families and their guests. To this end, if you are interested in our activities at YKAT (the official aeronautical term for the Airfield) you can email us so you can visit us as a guest to experience the site before deciding to join us. Or you may like to join us outright to which you just need to email us.

Be aware that all non-members, that is the families and guests of members, have to pay a $10 visitors' fee. This goes to contribute to our running costs such as insurance.

Due to the poor behaviour of some people we do not allow unannounced visitors to drop in on our activities. The gate to the Airfield is locked during our sessions but the gate is opened for members and their guests to enter and leave as they please.

Alexander Massey,
President of the Blue Mountains Astronomical Club, Inc.

If you have any questions, the best thing to do is email us directly. This forum and thread is not reviewed regularly, so some time can go by before new posts are replied to.
