Melbourne Sky 14/07/2018

Hi guys
Took advantage of believing in a sky condition web site stating that the night was going to be 8/10 for seeing but found it poor.It was early evening hours so packed it up and walked away hoping it was the seeing not my poor scopes thermals.
Anyone out observing last night around Melbourne that can report on seeing Condition. Thanks

Hard to say. Seeing can be very localised - 100m can make a huge difference.

Even two scopes side by side in the same backyard can be affected differently. I never really gave this much thought until a night at mentals place with his Meade beside my scope and the effects of seeing on both were markedly different.

I’m still puzzled as to why.
