  • Imaged over 2 nights, orange zone in Brisbane, Australia. (Bortle 7)

  • Planning & camera alignment with Aladin 10
  • Captured with TheSkyX Professional
  • Guiding with PHD2
  • FocusLock live focusing
  • PixInsight: Calibrate, align, stack, crop, dynamic background extraction, color calibration, light deconvolution, reduce noise, LRGB combination, background neutralization, SCNR green, histogram stretch, curves.

I kind of felt that way, but after watching all of the Adam Block tutorials, it made more sense to keep the luminance values at ~0.6 to pull as much colour as possible. Once it came time to brighten the image, I just couldn't find a pleasing balance. I think the color is true, just a little on the dark side.

That's a good image of this tough target. I spent a lot of hours trying to get the outer halo and only manage to get some of it. I urge you to try for it yourself. There are only a few amateur images of the halo, so it is worth a try.

Interesting. I'll add this as a note for next year. From my location I might need to use NB filters to see it.
