PixInsight 1.8.5 now available

Details here: https://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=11281.0

I have been using pre-release versions for the past few weeks and have been very happy with the stability in my Windows environment.

Cheers,
Rick.

I'm planning to install a new mount driver and update MaximDL and ACP the weekend before I head up there

It has been claimed that the latest Maxim actually fixes the guide star fade problem that has been complained about for years. We'll see

Downloaded and can't wait to try those new features Rick! I remember Balking at the cost but just a few tools like DBE are worth the price of entry, now it's even better value

I see Rick's ColorMask script gets specific mention in the announcement thread, and is now part of the official PI release! Congrats Rick!!

Still waiting for the MakeMyImageStunning process, Simon, but one day...

Thanks, Troy. I'd like to build a process or two one day but first I'll have to invest a serious amount of time into brushing up my atrophied C++ skills.

Rick, are there any tutorials forthcoming on the new processes esp your colour mask process and large scale pixel rejection?

Hi George,

Warren Keller already covers ColorMask in his book and one of his video tutorials. There's also an example of how to use it for Hubble palette NB processing in my original post on the PI Forum: https://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?topic=7751.0

For LSPR, I expect that Juan or Vicent will post some info on how to use it and Warren will probably cover it before long. He's probably working on a what's new in 1.8.5 tutorial already.

Cheers,
Rick.

Oh yes I saw Rick's script, congrats and good that they acknowledged you in their release announcement.

Played with the photometric tool, very easy and seems effective. Fortunately my colour balance was pretty close. Might read up more how it works, not sure what the graphs mean.

Ta, Simon.

If the green dots in the graph cluster around the line that's good. It means you got an accurate fit to the photometric data. Each dot represents one of the stars which had photometric data used in the calculation.

Thanks for the heads up Rick.
I'll probably find some other tool that's been in there for >5 years again too if I play hard enough
