If you're in Perth and looking for some astronomy outreach to do the Perth Observatory is looking for new volunteers - see the attached advert. There are day tours now as well, so it's not all nights, and there is also team doing historical archiving.
You do need your own transport, however, as it's out of the way at the end of a road in the hills and there is no public transport even remotely near it, hence the requirement for a driver's license.
You don't need to be full bottle on all your astro stuff, you can learn on the go, but you do need to be comfortable talking to the public and be prepared to get hands-on with the telescopes, as well stick to your commitment. I've been a vollie there for 18 years now and seen a lot of people come and go, but it's always disappointing when they don't even bother to turn up.
Arie's working hard on getting the 30" dob ready for the new season, too, so it should be an interesting year ahead for anyone up there.
