QHY5 and K3CCDTools

Heres a poser that will get some running for their cameras hopefully.

Will K3CCDTools recognise either the QHY5 or the Orion Starshooter Autoguider?

Nope, simple answer. I tried with this and neither Peter K, nor QHY wanted to play with each other. It was a shame as the Q5 would make a great lunar imager as well. In the end I used QCVideo or something similar, price was right.

thanks guys. I was considering whether it could be used for drift aligning with K3 as well as guiding with phd.

psst - Alignmaster. You don't need a camera.

Would be so good to be able to capture video and polar align in K3.

Troy, I played with alignmaster, but never seemed to be able to get as close to aligned as drift aligning. Selection of stars gets tricky in my back yard too.

The QHY-5 also has Ascom drivers, and i read that K3CCDTools later versions has Ascom ability.
May just be OK..

Not sure Theo. The selection under K3 devices is:
1. Videos for Windoze
2. WDM
3. TWAIN
4. Meade DSI
5. Lumenera
5. Artemis/ATIK

Can the QHY5 be operated via TWAIN?

I posed the QHY5 question directly on the K3 Forum, and also via an e mail direct to the K3 author Peter K, neither getting any response. I gave up.
For me, PHD and QCVideo worked and the lack of response left me annoyed.

The QHY-5 does have Twain driver as well.
So if K3CCDTools doesnt have Ascom, then use Twain.

I dont have K3CCDTools to do any testing, sorry.

Theo.

Depends when you got the QHY-5, check the CD, it should be there.
If yours is too old, go to my website and download the QHY-5 drivers (User Support) and copy the Twain from there.

Wouldn't a twain driver be as slow as?
It is normally used for single image aquisition, like in a scanner.
