Interlaced or Progressive scan CCDs?

While I understand how these technologies apply to CRTs and LCDs I'm not up to speed on the benefits of one over the other for CCD imaging; eg starlight xpress have both interlaced and progressive scans cameras.

Can someone enlighten me to the pros and cons of one over the other?

It all depends on how you deploy them and what you classify as a pro and con.....

Interlacing allowed SX to have the same camera guide itself at the expense of losing 1/2 the exposure time. If you didn't use this feature then the camera worked as well as any other with the occassional 'venetian blind' issue (the 2 interlaced frames not haveing exactly the same brightness level) but this can be fixed in post processing.
