Jupiter 16th Aug

I was quite pleased with this Jupiter from early in the night August 16th. I definitely need better seeing. Conditions average to good Mandurah, Western Australia.

Captured in SharpCap, stacked in AutoStakkert 3, wavelets in RegiStax 6, edited in PaintDotNet.

Celestron Neximage 5
Saxon 8" Maksutov

Nice work Dave, looks good for the stated seeing conditions.

I had a look last night from Brisbane and the Jovian disc looked like an animated squeeze ball.

Cheers

lol, Thanks Dennis. It's a challenge here that's for sure, not squeeze ball seeing but occasionally I can get reasonable results to work with, a lot just gets deleted after adjusting wavelets as it's not worth going any further with them. This years has been poor all round for everything.

Ganymede shadow can just be seen on the bottom right area of the planet, looks like a tadpole, but the Neximage 5 couldn't pick up the moon where as my ASI224mc could and very well. I'll put it down to the average seeing, slower frame rate and smaller pixel size of the Neximage 5.

I was tweaking late last night (as I often do) and this is my final result for this Jupe.

Yes - you've teased out some nice detail there.

Cheers
