Damaged DSLR Cameras

Hi Guys, well I was just wondering, dose anyone know, and/or is there any place where one can buy damaged Cameras, preferably the Digital DSLR's.

Strange request you may ask, but seeing that dismantling DSLR's is both relatively easy, and also fun, one could build a good camera out of say two damaged items.

Anyway I thought I would just put this out there, as I have looked and Googled this request, to no avail.

Thanks

Leon

Hi Leon,

I am not sure if it would be worth it. A lot of the 'dead' cameras may be water damaged and in this case definately two 'wrongs' will not make a 'right'.

Leon , Try a big camera store and find out where they get their repairs done. You can then approach them with your request.

Yes, ebay.
I did this a few years ago with a Palm pilot. Got one with cracked screen, then got a dead one with good screen... ended up with a palmpilot for about 1/20th new price.

Leon, there's a magazine called "Photo Trader" which you should be able to pick up at a largish Newsagent - they don't have an on line presence. It's full of adds from private people to second hand traders and large camera stores. Look for a yellow cover in A4 size - it's not a glossy.

Thanks Mark, I do know that Mag, as I used to buy it some time ago, but it didn't come to mind, thanks for the prompt.

Try asking the big insurance companies what they do if a camera is broken and subject to a claim , they might take it when claim is settled and auction them off.
