Arctic Butterfly - What a great bit of gear!

My Arctic Butterfly arrived today. I am impressed. I had some diabolical dust bunnies on my DMK, so that was the obvious first test. Attached is a flat field shot I took after cleaning. BTW it looks like I've got a bit of smear from the Q-tip cleaning.

Have a look here ( http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=30183 and http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=30220 ) for an example of what it was like before cleaning.

You're hooked aren't you. Do you have an uncleaned chip in the house anywhere

It's great isn't it. Not only do you get to use one piece of technology to support and clean another piece of technology (which is always a big bonus for us gaget guys) but it spins and makes noises as well. Fshhuuuusssshhhjjjj

It won me from day one!

Camerahouse $136.

I just googled and looked around for the best price.

I know it seems like a lot of money, that's why I put off getting one for so long, but now that I've got it, it's worth it!

Yep couldn't agree more.

I love the Artic Butterfly and been using it now for a while.

Here's some before and after shots on my 20Da.

Well worth it, along with a Rocket Blower too.

BTW do not use compressed air because it has propellents in the can that can affect your DSLR sensor.

Which Arctic Butterfly did you get?

The 700 or the 724?

Not sure whether to pay the extra for the 724....

cheers

ok,
after reading this, I just bought an arctic butterfly 724, plus a giotto rocket cleaning kit. Just used them on my QHY8 and for the first time there are no goobies on a flat field - bloody excellent!!! Looks like my flt fielding problems just got eliminated!!

Glad it cleaned your sensor Gary but you still need to take flat fields to eliminate gradients and vignetting don't you?

Looks like the price has gone up - I can't find a 724 for less than $169 in Brissy. Did anyone get the rest of the kit with all the other cleaning products?

Yep, but at least now they should work. My problem was that the flats eliminated the gradients, but not the dust motes - they were obviously too bad to flat field out. Now I should have no problems...

Cool.

At first I was skeptical about these brushes but after seeing () the results, I love using them.
